  Healthy Eating for Children

Form groups of 4-6 and work together as a team to complete the task according to the following instructions:

1.        Each member of the group should find out the information on the food pyramid and the recommended daily calorie intake for upper primary school children.  You may find the information by reading books or searching on the Internet.

2.  Each group will choose one of the menus from the school lunch menus and evaluate it according to the food pyramid and calculate the amount of calories the lunch provides for the pupils.

3.  Using the knowledge from the food pyramid and daily calorie intake, each group will decide how to improve the menu so that it will be healthy and appealing to the upper primary pupils.  Each group will then design a menu for your group’s lunch menu and explain how you make the food selection in setting up your menu in a written report.
